Peter's Fear-The Testing of Faith

In Luke 24:31-34, we are given a glimpse into a pivotal moment in the relationship between Jesus and his disciple, Peter. Jesus, addressing Peter directly with a sense of urgency, warns him about the trials he will soon face. He says, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat." The metaphor of "sifting like wheat" is a powerful image. Sifting involves separating the grain from the chaff, a process that is thorough and intense, subjecting the wheat to harsh conditions. This signifies the deep testing that Peter will undergo, where his faith will be put under pressure, and he will face challenges that will challenge his resolve.
